Getting started

What is Moj Auto Dnevnik?

Moj Auto Dnevnik ("My Car Diary") is a personal vehicle logbook for Android. It helps you record fuel, charging, services, tires, registration, insurance, and other vehicle-related expenses, and gives you analytics, reminders, and PDF reports based on your own data.

Which devices does the app support?

The app runs on Android phones and tablets on supported Android versions. It is distributed as a native Android application (built with Capacitor).

Do I need to create an account?

No. There are no user accounts, no sign-up, and no login. You can start using the app immediately after installing it.

How do I obtain the application?

The application is distributed through the Google Play Store. Please refer to the official store listing for the latest availability and release information.

In which languages is the app available?

Six languages: English, German, Serbian (Latin), Serbian (Cyrillic), Bosnian, and Croatian. You can switch language at any time in the settings.

Does the app work without an internet connection?

Yes. All core features work fully offline. An internet connection is only needed if you choose to refresh currency exchange rates from the European Central Bank.

Vehicles

Can I track more than one vehicle?

Yes. You can add multiple vehicles and switch between them at any time. Each vehicle keeps its own records, analytics, and reminders.

What information can I store about a vehicle?

Basic identity (name, make, model, year), fuel or energy type, primary currency, and optional details such as odometer, plate, and notes.

Can I set a primary currency per vehicle?

Yes. Each vehicle has its own primary currency. All analytics and totals for that vehicle are shown in this currency.

Can I delete a vehicle?

Yes. Deleting a vehicle also removes all records that belong to it. This action cannot be undone unless you have exported a backup beforehand.

Can I edit vehicle details later?

Yes. You can edit any vehicle field at any time. Changes do not affect the historical records already saved for that vehicle.

Fuel & charging

Which fuel types are supported?

The app supports common types (petrol, diesel, LPG, CNG), premium variants such as G-Drive, and electric charging (kWh). You can also enter a custom fuel type via the "Other…" option.

How is fuel consumption calculated?

Consumption is calculated between refuelings using odometer readings. You do not need to enter it manually — the app derives it from your entries.

What information does a charging entry include?

Charging entries capture energy (kWh), cost, location, and the unit price. The history card shows the unit price in both the entry currency and your primary currency where applicable.

Can I mark a refueling as partial?

Yes. Full and partial fills are supported. Consumption is calculated only across full-fill segments to keep results accurate.

Can I record refuelings at any station?

Yes. Common stations are preselected in the picker, and you can freely enter any station name via the "Other…" field.

Services

Which service categories are supported?

Common maintenance categories (oil change, brakes, filters, timing belt, technical inspection, etc.) are preselected, and you can add a custom category via "Other" together with a required description.

Can I attach the mechanic or location to a service?

Yes. Every service entry supports a free-text location field.

Does the app calculate service intervals?

The app shows a "Service Impact" summary based on your history. It does not enforce fixed manufacturer intervals — you remain responsible for the maintenance schedule of your vehicle.

Can I record several services performed on the same day?

Yes. Each service is a separate entry, so you can record any number of services on the same date.

Tires

How are tire changes tracked?

Each tire entry records the service type (seasonal change, replacement, repair, other), date, odometer, cost, and location. For "Other", a description field is required.

Do I get reminded to change tires?

Yes. Tire reminders are calculated from your own history (season and last change) and appear on the dashboard when relevant.

Can I record only a tire repair without a seasonal change?

Yes. Tire repairs are a separate service type and do not affect seasonal change reminders.

Registration & insurance

How does the app handle registration?

You enter the registration date, cost, and validity period. A reminder is generated automatically before expiry.

Are Mandatory and Kasko insurance tracked separately?

Yes. Each insurance policy is tracked as its own record, with its own expiry and reminder. Mandatory (MTPL) and Kasko reminders are independent.

Can I record an insurance provider that is not in the list?

Yes. Selecting "Other" reveals an insurance name field so you can enter any provider.

Are vignettes and toll-related passes supported?

Yes. Vignettes can be recorded with a duration (7 days, 1 month, 1 year); the expiry date is calculated automatically.

Additional expenses

What kinds of extra expenses can I record?

Anything that does not belong to fuel, service, tires, registration, or insurance — for example car wash, parking, tolls, accessories, fines, and other one-off costs.

Do additional expenses appear in analytics?

Yes. They contribute to the totals and category breakdowns for the selected period, using the same calculation rules as other categories.

Can I categorize additional expenses freely?

Yes. Predefined categories are provided (including Fine), and you can add your own via "Other" with a description.

Analytics & reports

What time period do analytics cover?

The app uses a single, consistent period definition based on the last 12 calendar months. On the dashboard, if you have less than 12 months of history, the label switches to "Since your first entry ({date})" so numbers are never misleading.

Why are Dashboard, Analytics, and PDF numbers identical?

Because they all read from the same analytics engine and the same period definition. There is one source of truth for totals across the app.

What is included in the PDF service book?

A per-vehicle summary of records for the selected period (fuel, services, tires, registration, insurance, additional expenses), formatted for printing and long-term storage.

What is included in the annual report PDF?

A yearly overview: totals per category, monthly breakdowns, and highlights. Filenames and content are localized to the currently selected language.

Can I export data in other formats?

You can export the full application data as a JSON backup, calendar entries as ICS files, and reports as PDF.

Multi-currency

Which currencies can I use for expenses?

Any standard ISO 4217 currency. In the interface, familiar local codes (for example KM) are shown alongside the ISO code where useful.

How does currency conversion work?

Each entry stores its original amount, currency, and the exchange rate used at the time of entry. Analytics convert amounts to the vehicle's primary currency using those stored rates.

Where do exchange rates come from?

Rates use a multi-tier fallback: manual override, cached rates from the European Central Bank, and bundled static rates as a last resort. The app works even if no internet is available.

If I refresh rates today, will my old records change?

No. Historical entries keep the exchange rate that was in effect when they were saved. Refreshing rates only affects future entries.

Can I edit the exchange rate on an entry?

Yes. You can override the rate on a specific entry; only that entry is affected.

Does the app need internet to convert currencies?

No. Bundled and cached rates make conversion fully offline. An internet connection is only used if you choose to refresh ECB rates.

Reminders

What kinds of reminders does the app generate?

Registration, insurance (per policy), technical inspection, tire changes, and service-related reminders derived from your history.

Where do reminders appear?

On the dashboard, prioritized by urgency. You can also export upcoming events as an ICS calendar file.

Can I dismiss or snooze a reminder?

Reminders update automatically based on the underlying record. Editing or completing the related entry removes or updates the reminder.

Are reminders category-independent?

Yes. Each category calculates its own reminders independently, so a missing service does not hide an upcoming registration expiry.

Backup & restore

How do I create a backup?

Use the export function in the settings to create a JSON backup. The file contains all your records and can be saved anywhere on the device or shared to another storage.

How do I restore my data?

Use the import function and select a previously exported JSON backup. Existing records can be replaced or merged depending on the option you choose.

Where should I keep backups?

Anywhere you trust — a cloud drive, a computer, or another device. Because a JSON backup can contain all your application data, treat it as sensitive and store it securely.

What happens if I change my phone?

Export a JSON backup on the old device, install the app on the new device, and import the backup. All records, vehicles, and settings are restored.

Does uninstalling the app delete my data?

In most cases, uninstalling the app removes locally stored data unless you have exported a backup beforehand.

Privacy & security

Does the app collect my personal data?

No. There is no analytics, no tracking, no advertising, and no user account. Your data stays on your device.

Where is my data stored?

Only on your device, in local application storage managed by Android.

Does the app share my data with third parties?

No. The app does not transmit your records to any server or third party.

Why does the app request the INTERNET permission?

Solely to fetch the latest official European Central Bank (ECB) daily reference exchange rates when you tap "Refresh rates". No personal data is sent in this request.

Are my PDFs and backups generated on the device?

Yes. PDF reports, ICS files, and JSON backups are generated entirely on the device.

Is the app safe for personal financial data?

The app stores costs and dates locally without transmission, which is the safest architecture for this type of data. You are responsible for protecting backups you export.

Troubleshooting

The app opens with a white screen. What do I do?

Force-close the app and reopen it. If the issue persists, restart your device. Reinstall the app only as a last resort, and restore your backup if one is available.

A number is cut off on a small screen.

The application uses responsive KPI cards designed to adapt to different screen sizes. If a value is still clipped on your device, please report the case with a screenshot.

The date picker looks different than in other apps.

The app uses the native Android date picker, which follows your system settings and Android version. This is intentional.

A PDF shows unusual characters.

The application uses Unicode-compatible fonts for PDF generation. If a specific report still shows broken characters, please share the exact record so it can be reproduced.

A currency does not appear in the list.

The app supports any ISO 4217 code. If a code is missing, please report it and use a similar currency as a temporary workaround.

Analytics show a number I do not expect.

Open the "What's included in the selected period" panel to see exactly which records are being included, and verify the period matches your expectation.
